Obituary for Juanita Baylark

Juanita Baylark was born on September 8, 1948 in Forrest City, Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents Earnest Lay and Hester Mae Thomas-Lay. Along with her sisters, Carrie Mae Lay, Geraldine Lay three brothers: Johnny and Michael Lay, Uylesses Abbogg Lay  She was also preceded in death by step-mother Maggie Lay, a step-sister Rosetta Beasley and her baby girl Roshella Lay.

She was united in holy matrimony to Randy Baylark on May 2, 1982 in St. Louis, MO.   Through this union came Somer to join her brother Andre and sister Renee.

Nita, as she like to be called, accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the early age of eight.  She rededicated her life to Christ along with her husband earlier this year.

Nita held various jobs but she took most pride in being a house wife and welcoming family into her home.  Her home was always open and everyone was welcome.   Family being most important, she claimed her nieces as her daughters and their children as her grandchildren as she had a hand in helping raising them.

Nita was most known for her love of elephants and her collection of them. So much so that one cannot pass an elephant and not think of her and would consider it to be her trademark.  She even initiated some family members to begin their own collections.

I think everyone would agree that Nita’s laughter is like no other.  It was truly infectious! It was the kind of laugh that would eventually make you laugh along with her, even if you didn’t want too. No one laughed, liked she did.  She was also known to give herself five because she was so tickled!!  She said, “If Randy didn’t do anything else, Randy know he can always make me laugh .“Can’t you Randy?” “uuuh huh, Nita”, Randy would reply.

Nita’s favorite past time was sitting around and talking about the good old times.  “Oooh-Weee” we had some fun reminiscing.    She also loved listening to gospel music.  In fact, she was listening to gospel music and giving God the glory until He called her home on Tuesday, June 11, 2019.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories: Husband: Randy Baylark; Son: Andre Earnest (Rochelle) Lay of San Antonio, TX; Daughter: Vondella Renee’ Monge of El Paso, TX; Daughter, Somer Jeanee’ Baylark of Springfield, IL; Sisters: Emma Jean Lay of Arkansas, Jackie Morganfield and Patricia Howard both of California; Brothers: Markell Pearson and Kirk L. Lay of St. Louis, MO; Father-In-Law, Willis Baylark, Sr. of Burlington, Iowa; Uncle, J.T. Thomas of St. Louis, MO; Seven Grandchildren: Kristofer Lay, D’andre Lay, Jordon Lay, Qadriciana Monge, Rafael Monge, Journe’ FaLove Hood and Caasi Amira Dawson, Two Great-Granddaughters, Soraya Ivy Marie Monge, Ava Isabella Rosa Monge and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives, loved ones and friends.
