Obituary for Minnie Lee Artis

On the morning of Tuesday, July 30, 2019, Mother Minnie Lee Artis transitioned from earth to glory.  Although her parting may have left an earthly void, she leaves many hearts filled with eighty-seven years of treasured memories.

Mother Artis was born on February 16, 1932 a beautiful daughter born to the late Zach and Amy (Gibbs) Nixon in York, Alabama.

She grew up in Alabama and it was there where she met the love of her life, Wayne Artis. A union ordained by God for 53 years until the Lord saw fit to call Wayne Artis home to glory in November 10, 2002.

Mother Artis accepted Christ at an early age and served the Lord faithfully unto death.  Early in life, she attended Holy Temple Church of God in Christ.  In 1979, her husband founded Miracle Revival Church of God in Christ, Peoria, Illinois where she was the First Lady and a willing worker to all the works of the church ministries.  Following the passing of her husband, she still served the church under the leadership of her son, Pastor Jessie Artis and remained as the church mother.  She was a blessing to the church in many ways and a great help in raising contributions for the church.

Mother Artis leaves to cherish her loving memories: her children: Pastor Jessie (Denayer) Artis, Walter (Gloria) Artis, Amie (Zephrey) Allen all of Peoria, IL, Eddie Artis of Phoenix, AZ, Annie (Elder James) Johnson and Dorothy Artis both of Marietta, GA, Linda Artis of Mableton, GA, Carlos (Monique) Artis of Gilbert, AZ, Syretta (Elder James) Taylor of Peoria, IL; brother, Zach Nixon of Euclid, OH. She has a plethora of grandchildren (34) the little ones called her “Granny the Great” which include special granddaughters who cared for her, Syrita Weeks (RN) and ChaWalta Artis (caregiver).  She also has a host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and her Miracle Revival Church family.
